Web Analyst (Freelance/Part Time)
We are looking for an experienced web analyst to help to deliver significant increases in conversion rate and revenue for our clients around the world. We currently have a requirement for 8-16 hours per week but the business is growing fast so there is the opportunity to expand this role.
You’ll be responsible for analysis and reporting needs across a number of client sites to support our conversion optimisation. That means running reports to answer key questions about the performance of the sites, improving the analytics integrations and also combining analytics data with other data sources to deliver insights for our clients.
We do most of our reporting using the GA Google Sheets plugin to extract and process data outside Google Analytics so experience using these tools is vital. Our clients work in a variety of different industries, so you’ll need to be quick to understand their sites and businesses.
Browser to Buyer is an expert conversion optimisation agency. Our team has worked with over 70 businesses in 8 different languages from around the world including startups and global brands. You’ll be joining a small, friendly team who are focused on taking the time to truly understand our clients’ businesses and your customers and helping their businesses and sites to grow.
What you’ll do:
- Work across a number of different client sites in different verticals including ecommerce, affiliate and SaaS
- Create ad-hoc reports to support our testing and research (e.g. what did users who clicked on a product recommendation do on site)
- Set up tracking in GTM (development resource is available for more complex JavaScript tracking when needed) for new features and to improve reporting on existing sites
- Create ‘site overview’ reports identifying overall performance of the site and breaking down performance by different dimensions and metrics
- Deal with incomplete or partial tracking on sites, creating reports which extract the correct data and recommendations to report tracking (e.g. deal with badly formatted URLs)
- Audit site tracking and recommend changes to improve reporting
- Maintain and improve our automated testing reports (based on Google Sheets plugin)
- Review site performance and data and create sets of recommendations and observations about user performance
- Create graphs for presentations and reports
Skills and experience:
- Expert in web analytics with a strong understanding of Google Analytics, both reporting and implementation
- Plenty of experience using the Google sheets plugin to extract and process data
- Expert in Google using Google sheets to process analytics data
- Experience taking external data and other data sources and combining it with GA data
- Excellent at using regular expressions to analyse data
- Ability to audit sites, finding the main user paths and understanding existing tracking
- Fast learner and able to quickly apply your skills to different sites
- Good written communicator
- Reliable and communicate progress and deadlines
Nice to have:
- Basic knowledge of SQL or a desire to learn it
- Basic knowledge of JavaScript and/or jQuery
- Interest in conversion optimization and experience working with A/B tests and testing tools
The role:
- You can work from anywhere – primarily we’re a UK business so some availability for calls/discussion during UK business hours is important
- Availability throughout the week. Most tasks will have a 3-5 day turnaround time, but some may be more urgent (1-2 days). Occasionally we will have urgent tasks. Larger projects will often have 1-2 week turnaround times.
- We are initially looking for someone 8-16 hours per week and will pay a retainer based on this, with the option for extra hours if required.
